Happy New Year! As 2024 gets underway, it’s a great time to take stock of our very busy – and successful! – 2023 and take a peek at the exciting things in store for the coming year.

Our overarching goal for 2023 was to strengthen the Massachusetts fintech ecosystem so that it is recognized as the #1 destination for fintech. With an emphasis on expanding the Hub’s reach – locally, nationally and globally – we also aimed to unlock new capital for startups, foster corporate-startup collaboration, nurture talent and celebrate examples of success in the community.

To accomplish these goals and drive momentum in 2023, we:

  • Held two career fairs with 500+ students from more than 12 schools
  • Hosted two bootcamps with 100+ students participating from more than 20 schools
  • Expanded our mentoring program with over 50 student mentees/mentor pairs representing more than 8 schools, and 40 mentors from 12 partner firms
  • Increased participation in our Angel Education Series, held an Angel Investor Community Meetup and held a forum at Boston Fintech Week
  • Developed and hosted three Corporate Startup Collaboration events which saw more than 200 participants from across the fintech ecosystem
  • Increased Mass Fintech Hub’s presence at Boston Fintech Week with four events that attracted over 200 participants Welcomed 10 new organizations into the Hub, swelling our ranks to more than 50 members

And fostered strong online engagement including:
  • 71% follower growth on LinkedIn, surpassing 2,000 followers
  • 18% follower growth on X
  • Added a Mass Fintech Hub Instagram to engage with students
  • 2400+ subscribers to the Mass Fintech Hub newsletter, with another 901 subscribed on the LinkedIn version that launched just this year
  • Highlighted inspirational members of the Massachusetts fintech ecosystem with media features, success stories, Q&As, announcements, and a brand new “Behind the Hub” social media video series

  • In 2024, we look forward to building on the Hub’s successes – and the vibrant state of the ecosystem more generally – through:

  • Incorporate the insights from the KPMG report into our strategy and programming, so that we effectively support efforts towards ensuring Massachusetts is the #1 destination for fintech
  • Inspire and provide opportunities for the next generation of leaders, through our Mentorship Program, Fintech Bootcamps, Career Fairs and Angel Investor Education Series. Our first bootcamp of the year will take place at Stonehill College on Saturday, February 24
  • Educate and deliver perspective on important innovations and change in fintech and financial services, sustainable finance and financial inclusion.
  • Showcase fintech’s resilience through success stories across our stakeholders, including startups, VCs, academic, public, private and nonprofit sectors
  • Expand programming by delivering exceptional events and attract more leaders and new participants to the fintech ecosystem
  • Have a vibrant presence at national and regional fintech and financial events, including Boston Fintech Week
  • Grow our membership across a variety of stakeholder groups

  • Stay in the loop
